The properties and structure of adenosine tri- phosphate-creatine phosphotransferase (EC 2.7.3.2) from muscle have been extensively investigated in recent years, with a view to elucidating the mechanism of catalysis and the function of the enzyme in vivo (for a review, see Kuby & Noltmann, 1962, pp. 515-596). However, apart from the preliminaryinvestigationbyNarayanaswami (1952), little attention appears to have been paid to the enzyme from cerebral tissue.
