In today's era, IoT, and cloud computing are used in all domains for data transition by cost optimization, fast execution, and low maintenance at the user end.In continue to this, all services from different technologies can be opted, if they are secure in terms of reliability, confidentiality, authenticity, and integrity.Security plays a vital role while transmitting data whether it's about IoT-based devices and applications, cloud or self-hosted websites, or any other services.Security of cloud services will be included as a preferable topic for researchers but web service security is also exigent. In this paper, a comparative analysis is presented between IoT, cloud-based, and web-based services based on different research parameters to explore the major issues and challenges while adopting cloud and web services based on various security parameters. For conducting this study, we have considered more than 250 articles from WoS and Scopus databases, out of which more than 100 articles have been included in this study. We have classified the security into 9 parameters and studied each parameter for cloud and selfhosted web services and presented the comparison in tabular form, graphs, and charts. This work aims to observe which of the two services is better.Additionally, open research issues and challenges are discussed in the work.
