Adoption outcomes need to be assessed from both child and parental perspectives. This paper represents part of a wider study of 165 children, adopted into the UK from Romania, and a comparison group of 52 domestic adoptions. It focuses on outcome from the parents' point of view, in particular, the level of parental satisfaction, and considers possible risk factors for poor outcome. The level of satisfaction in both groups is very high and the main factors associated with less good outcome are child behaviour problems. The positive picture at age 6 is very similar to that found when the children were seen two years earlier.
