Abstract

Electricity distribution utilities must plan network reinforcement actions under uncertain demand growth. This paper presents Power Plan, a software tool for probabilistic optimization of reconductoring investments in electricity distribution networks. The software integrates probabilistic load modeling, Monte Carlo scenario generation, exhaustive search optimization, and power flow simulation using OpenDSS®. Power Plan provides an interactive graphical environment for configuring probabilistic load models, conductor databases, and optimization parameters. By enabling scenario-based analysis and probabilistic evaluation of investment costs, the tool supports transparent and reproducible planning studies for electricity distribution systems.
