Some writers have questioned whether there is such an entity, and have suggested that sarcoidosis is merely a type of histologic response which may be produced by a wide variety of etiologic agents.1This point of view has merit: it is worthy of repeated emphasis that many agents—bacterial, viral, fungal, protozoan and mineral—can produce tuberculoid tissue changes which may be designated as thesarcoid reaction.2There is, however, persuasive epidemiologic3, 4and clinical5, 6evidence that...Bibliography1.
