An acquisition footprint is noise in 3D seismic data that should be removed. The standard truncated singular value decomposition (TSVD) is a well known technique used for signal enhancement that has been adapted to attenuate the acquisition footprint. Using this algorithm in a repeated and multi‐directional manner provides a new method for dealing with this type of noise. In this paper, it is shown that the new methodology is not only capable of removing random noise, but it is actually a very powerful tool for suppressing artifacts caused by acquisition footprint.
