Objective This study develops and tests a model of anti‐immigrant nativism among L atino A mericans in the United States. Methods Several variables unique to L atinos (e.g. ancestral country of origin, panethnicity, and American assimilation) are incorporated into a model of L atino‐ A merican anti‐immigrant nativism. Results In brief, L atino nativism is driven largely by A merican cultural assimilation and geographic proximity to other L atino A mericans. Conclusion These results suggest that as the L atino‐ A merican population in the U nited S tates continues to grow and assimilate, the pro‐immigrant bias of the L atino population will decline and perhaps eventually disappear altogether.
