Male subjects were told that they would be either cooperating or competing with either a likeable or dislikeable partner. They then either thought or were distracted from thinking about their partner. Planned comparisons significantly confirmed the prediction that an anticipated cooperative relationship would increase and a competitive relationship decrease, partner's attractiveness and that these changes would be more pronounced with thought.
