The need for an extensive review of this subject was clearly demonstrated by the difficulty in keeping this book on my desk and not on my colleagues'. Studies of the generally recognised spectroscopic techniques applied to inorganic glasses are covered, with additional chapters on x-ray and neutron scattering, EXAFS, low frequency relaxation spectroscopy and an introductory chapter on the thermodynamics and kinetics of glass formation.
