Claude Guillot, Centre national de la recherche scientifique, Paris & Ludvik Kalus, Université Paris IV - Sorbonne Inscriptions islamiques sur des canons d'Insulinde du XVIe siècle This article is part of the general survey of Islamic epigraphy in the Malay world carried out by its authors. Four ancient cannons are discussed here: Ki Amuk from Banten and three pieces seized by the Dutch in the Sultan of Aceh's palace after their victory in 1874. Two of the Acehnese cannons bear inscriptions testifying that they were supplied not by Istanbul as is commonly thought, but by the Gujarati strongman Chingîs Khân, probably in 1567.
