NATALICIO, DIANA S., and NATALICIO, Luiz F. S. A Comparative Study of English Pluralization by Native and Non-Native English Speakers. CHILD DEVELOPMENT, 1971, 42, 1302-1306. 144 males, 4 groups of 36 in the first, second, third, and tenth grades, respectively, equally divided at each grade level according to native language, were presented a randomized list of nonsense syllables designed to elicit the plural forms of these pseudonouns. Results indicate that the pattern of acquisition of noun plurals in English is comparable for both children having English as their first language and those acquiring English as a second language.
