Abstract

LIBERIA, situated in the equatorial zone of West Africa, is one of the least-known countries of the world, much of its territory being still quite unexplored. Its general geographical aspects are those of the countries on the Gulf of Guinea-a long straight coastline, difficult of access owing to the dangerous surf, a central belt of undulating country covered with dense equatorial forest and finally an elevated region, less damp and more healthy, stretching between the great forests and the savannahs of the French Sudan.
