Cross-validation data indicate the Child Abuse Potential Inventory has classification rates in the mid-80% to mid-90% range. These rates, however, are based on discriminant analyses, which provide optimal classification rates. The present study provides classification rates based on the standard scoring procedure developed for field use. Rates were determined for new samples of 61 physical child abusers, 117 comparison parents, and 64 nurturing parents
