Okinawa Prefecture announced its policy on wood utilization in public buildings in March 2012. However, no public wooden buildings have been commissioned by the prefecture in the 12 years up to fiscal year 2023. The purpose of this study is to clarify the regional characteristics regarding the use of wood in buildings in Okinawa Prefecture. By analyzing the actual production processes of non-residential wooden buildings in the prefecture, this study also examines the roles of designers in the production of non-residential wooden buildings, with particular attention to regional factors influencing wood utilization in buildings.
