Abstract

The Ontologic Protocol is a primitive for deterministically verifiable proof-of-reasoning, with proof in its evidentiary sense, as in proof of work or proof of purchase: a witnessable object attesting that a reasoning event occurred and was sealed, never a verdict on whether the reasoning was correct. Distributed systems today can verify what happened (they record state) but cannot verify the reasoning that produced the act; the binding event, where a rule meets an input, has had no portable, witnessable proof object. The protocol supplies one — h(R‖I‖O‖M) — sealing a Rule, its Input, the resulting Output, and an attested scope-bound declaration of Meaning into a single hash, deterministically replayable by any third party and referenceable within an ongoing semiotic chain. Authority over the existence, ordering, attribution, and immutability of the attestation event is bestowed by witnesses on a hashgraph consensus topic, not asserted by the reasoner. The shape is an affidavit, not a brain scan: it proves derivation, not premised truth, and operates only where the subject is non-personal and its truth condition is determinate and consensus-witnessable, with formal colorimetry as the reference domain. The result is a shared substrate on which reasoning becomes portable and verifiable across agents, robots, sensors, and humans. This primitive is laid down for others to verify, extend, and contest, never for one party to own.
