Examines energy consumption in MEC-enabled blockchain, suggesting data compression can enhance efficiency.
Introducing mobile edge computing (MEC) to blockchain can enhance the computing capability of mining nodes. Given that the data compression can reduce the size of node offload data and thereby decrease offload latency and energy consumption, this paper considers the data compression-assisted MEC-enabled blockchain network, and formulates a non-convex problem to minimize the total energy consumption of the system by jointly optimizing offloading decisions, compression decisions, transmission power and computing resources. To address this convexity, we decompose the problem into three sub-problems with the help of block coordinate descent (BCD) technology. The auxiliary variables, quadratic transformation, and successive convex approximation (SCA) are used to transform the subproblem into convex functions. Then an iterative algorithm based on BCD is proposed to obtain the optimal solution. Simulation results are presented to verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm and the superiority of the proposed iterative algorithm in terms of the total energy consumption.
