Flux‐yield dependence of oxidative phosphorylation at constant ΔH+

By using an NADH‐regenerating system, different steady states were obtained in which the electron flux through each respiratory unit was modulated. Under these conditions it was observed that, at constant Δ H + , the ATP/O value decreased with increasing electron flux. This flux‐yield dependence can be regarded as evidence in support of indirect coupling at the proton pump level.
