Some of the fundamental concepts of color science are presented in terms of digital signal processing methods. The concepts include color matching, color sensitivity, and color reproduction. Grassmann's law for additive color mixture, mathematical descriptions for color matching, and properties of color matching functions are discussed. Additive and subtractive color systems for color reproduction are reviewed. It is shown that the vector space approach provides a foundation for formulating and solving many problems in color measurement and reproduction. It is also shown how this approach is used for solving problems in color science, including secondary reproduction, color correction for varying illuminants, estimation of illumination, and design of scanning filters.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">></ETX>
