www.leeds.ac.uk/acom/webdesign Course design in any discipline should emerge from an interaction between the lecturers ’ motivations and justifications for teaching, the learning environment, and students ’ diverse needs and desires. In ICT all of these are to an extent controlled by the prevalence of standardised “packages ” of training, but because of a lack of uniformity in web design, this sub-discipline may allow a more flexible approach which can better accommodate students ’ innate diversity. These ideas are developed through an analysis of the general field and a survey of web design students.
