The Internet of Things is part of our everyday life, which applies to all aspects of human life; from smart phones and environmental sensors to smart devices used in the industry. The majority of IoT applications carry out tasks automatically, with no interaction from humans or physical objects. To implement such a new technology in a secure manner, current and upcoming devices must be smart, efficient, and capable of providing services to users. As a result, researchers are investigating security issues on a daily basis. Because IoT devices are most portable and light in nature, they have several issues such as battery consumption, memory, and the most important is security. In this survey paper, we elaborated on security attacks with reference to various types of IoT layers. Last but not least, we discussed some IoT applications. This research will help researchers and manufacturers evaluate and reduce the attack range on IoT devices.
