Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) can be successfully performed as a rescue strategy in patients with critical aortic stenosis following in-hospital cardiac arrest.
Demonstrates the feasibility of performing TAVI as a salvage or urgent procedure in a patient with critical aortic stenosis following an in-hospital cardiac arrest.
Case report supports feasibility of rescue TAVI post-arrest in critical AS; leaves open need for prospective trials before clinical adoption.
Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) has rapidly evolved. Patients with critical aortic stenosis (AS) are at increased risk of cardiac arrest and are particularly difficult to resuscitate. We are presenting our experience of successful TAVI after in-hospital cardiac arrest in critical AS.
