Eighty-four undergraduate students were randomly placed into one of three treatment groups to test the effects of high, medium, and low teacher clarity (vagueness terms and mazes) on student achievement and student perception. There was a significant effect on achievement with the medium clarity groups showing the greatest achievement. The main effect of clarity on student perception was also significant. These results are discussed in relation to previous research.
