A digital system was implemented using FPGA to acquire real-time ECG signals, filter out artifacts, and detect the QRS complex to recognize heart situations.
Describes an FPGA-based hardware implementation for real-time ECG signal acquisition, denoising, and QRS complex detection.
FPGA-based ECG processing demonstrates technical feasibility; leaves open clinical validation before practice consideration.
In this work we implemented an efficient digital system which acquires real time ECG signal and to detect the QRS complex (beats). Whatever the ECG signal is generated is to filter out to remove unwanted artifact and noise and finally implement with the help of Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA). The overall project is divided into two phase we detect real time ECG signal the amplitude of the signal is very small so we design hardware in such a way that amplify and remove the artifacts from the signal and we get proper ECG pattern and during second phase we denoise the signal first and then implement that with the FPGA. This system is useful to detect the heart beat by observing that rate and with the help of QRS complex we can easily recognize situation of the heart.
