In 1986, 42 teachers presented Choices, an educational unit on conflict and nuclear war, to 6th, 7th and 8th grade students and evaluated the effects of the unit with pre- and post-tests. The unit decreased adolescents' fear and worry about nuclear war and increased their optimism about the possibility of preventing nuclear war. The level of teachers' self-reported political activism was higher after having presented the unit.
