There is a widespread popular interest in prehistory and Celtic paganism. The history courses in most schools include some teaching about Stone Age and Iron Age people. In RE, however, this area of study is almost totally neglected, even though most of the archaeological remains from these periods are of a religious nature. In this article I am seeking to show the importance of British pre‐Christian religion and to suggest ways in which it can be taught in RE.
