The radiometric temperature of a vegetation canopy is related in a complex and poorly-understood fashion tb the temperatures of individual leaves. The effect of stress on vegetation and its relationship to the underlying geology has been investigated for an area of north-west Scotland using data obtained from an airborne Daedalus scanner. Stress effects resulting from high concentrations of heavy metals, arising from, natural sources, have been identified in this area.
