Key result
Heart rate variability variables, including Heart Rate Variability Index and Integral Estimation, facilitated the estimation of surgical complications at various stages of operation in 7 patients.
Why the study?
Do new Heart Rate Variability indices facilitate the estimation of complications during surgical operations in surgical patients?
Observational (n=7)
Do new Heart Rate Variability indices facilitate the estimation of complications during surgical operations in surgical patients?
Novel heart rate variability indices may provide a useful method for monitoring surgical patients and estimating intraoperative complications.
A new approach has been proposed for the estimation of variables based on Heart Rate Variability during a surgical operation. The following variables, Heart Rate Variability Index, Normalized Inert Rate Variability Index and Integral Estimation have been introduced and used for the analysis and estimation of surgical procedures in 7 patients. All variables have a clear physical meaning; they are very different at various stages of the operation and facilitate the estimation of the complications of the operation.

Slonim et al. (2002) conducted an observational in Surgical patients (n=7). Heart rate variability variables (Heart Rate Variability Index, Normalized Inert Rate Variability Index, Integral Estimation) was evaluated on Estimation of surgical procedures and complications. Heart rate variability variables, including Heart Rate Variability Index and Integral Estimation, facilitated the estimation of surgical complications at various stages of operation in 7 patients.
