Absolute rate constants for the reaction of OH radicals with vinyl fluoride, vinyl chloride, and vinyl bromide have been determined over the temperature range 299–426 °K using a flash photolysis–resonance fluorescence technique. The Arrhenius expressions obtained were k (CH2=CHF) = 1.48×10−12e(775±300)/RT cm3 molecule−1 sec−1, k (CH2=CHCl) = 1.14×10−12e(1045±300)/RT cm3 molecule−1 sec−1, and k (CH2=CHBr) = 1.79×10−12e(805±300)/RT cm3 molecule−1 sec−1, with rate constants at room temperature of (5.56±0.56) ×10−12 cm3 molecule−1 sec−1, (6.60±0.66) ×10−12 cm3 molecule−1 sec−1, and (6.81±0.69) ×10−12 cm3 molecule−1 sec−1 for CH2=CHF, CH2=CHCl, and CH2=CHBr, respectively.
