Parallel discrete EPSO for distribution network reconfigurations

This paper proposes an efficient method for distribution network reconfigurations. The objective is the minimization of the network loss. In this paper, a meta-heuristic method is developed to handle the network reconfigurations. The method utilizes EPSO (Evolutionary Particle Swarm Optimization) that applies Evolutional Strategy to PSO. EPSO is modified to Discrete EPSO that solves the network reconfigurations effectively. In addition, the island model of Discrete EPSO is proposed to make the solution candidates more diverse. The proposed is successfully tested in the 69-busdistribution system.
