Photoionisation in the 3p shell of atomic manganese has been investigated. Depending on the spin projection number of the ejected electron, this process yields either a 7P or a 5P final ionic state. The 7P photo-line as well as the subsequent Coster-Kronig decay could be observed in this experiment, and the asymmetry parameter beta of this photo-line has been determined up to about 50 eV above threshold. The experimental data qualitatively support the predicted values of Amusia et al. (1981-3). However, quantitative agreement is not achieved, and this might be related to the problem that the photoionisation process to the 5P final ionic state can not yet be found experimentally.
