An attempt has been made to test the constancy of the component structure of a hostility battery. It has been shown that in normal and neurotic samples two dimensions emerge, one of General Punitiveness and one of Direction of Hostility. These dimensions are related to prior theoretical formulations by other authors. Differences between groups are briefly discussed.
