Wind shear is known to be an important factor affecting the safety of aircraft during take-off and landing period. Records of its measurement obtained from a civil airlines are presented and discussed. A mixture model with variable proportionality constant is used to describe this data. The method of minimum chi-squared is used to estimate the mixture proportionality constant and the suitability of the model is considered.
