National cancer database analysis identifies unmet needs and outcomes in peripheral T-cell lymphoma.
Peripheral T-cell lymphomas (PTCL) are a heterogeneous group of lymphoproliferative diseases comprising approximately 10% of all non-Hodgkin lymphomas (NHL) [ 1 , 2 ]. PTCL-not otherwise specified (PTCL-NOS) represents the most common subtype, followed by angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma (AITL) and anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL) [ 3 ]. Except for anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK)-positive ALCL, these diseases have generally been associated with poor outcomes [ 4 ]. Their rarity and biological heterogeneity pose challenges for conducting prospective clinical trials and developing effective new therapies.
