Evaluates antimicrobial properties and durability of nickel phosphate wall putty composites, suggesting a sustainable solution.
Modern residential construction requires multifunctional wall finishing materials that provide not only smoothness and aesthetic quality but also durability, moisture resistance, and antimicrobial protection. Conventional wall putties mainly consist of white cement and calcium carbonate; however, they often suffer from poor water resistance, low mechanical strength, and microbial growth in humid environments. These issues can lead to wall cracking, paint peeling, discoloration, and health concerns. This study focuses on the development of a nickel phosphate-modified wall care putty composite for sustainable residential applications. Nickel phosphate mixtures were incorporated into a conventional putty matrix at concentrations of 1wt%, 3wt%, and 5wt% to evaluate their effects on structural, physical, and antimicrobial properties. The prepared composites were tested for compressive strength, adhesion, water absorption, and antimicrobial activity. The findings suggest that nickel phosphate-modified wall putty is a promising multifunctional material for next-generation construction. The optimized 3wt% formulation successfully combines strength, durability, water resistance, and antimicrobial protection, making it suitable for sustainable and long-lasting interior wall applications.
