Examines inventory optimization and waste reduction in grocery retail, suggesting improved financial outcomes.
The management of perishable inventory remains a significant challenge for small-scale grocery retailers, often resulting in product wastage and financial losses due to manual tracking and the lack of timely discounting mechanisms. This paper presents Dealiva, a smart multi-vendor platform designed to improve inventory visibility and support the sale of near-expiry products through a rule-based discount system. The system applies predefined discounts based on fixed ranges of days remaining before product expiry, ensuring a structured and consistent pricing approach. It enables customers to discover nearby grocery shops within Maharashtra and purchase discounted products using a pickup-based ordering model with a one-shop-per-order constraint. Dealiva incorporates role-based authentication for customers, shop owners, and administrators, along with JWT-based authentication and password hashing for secure access management. Razorpay integration in test mode is used for secure transaction handling. A recommendation system based on the Apriori algorithm analyzes completed transactions to suggest frequently bought-together products. Additionally, shop and admin dashboards provide insights into inventory status, near-expiry products, and sales-related information. The system provides a practical approach for managing perishable inventory through timely discounting, improved product visibility, and basic analytical insights within a controlled academic environment
