Philosophical discussions of Slow Food have been relatively non-existent. This paper will attempt to address this silence by exploring the contributions to Slow Food that can be made by the German-American philosopher Albert Borgmann's theory of technology. Of particular relevance here are Borgmann's notions of the “device” and the “culture of the table.” Relating these ideas to Slow Food may help it gain some theoretical rigor and address some of the criticisms made of the movement.
