This article argues that race is an important dynamic of schooling and that teachers must daily consider its importance to the educational welfare of all students, especially students of color. 4 points are discussed to support this argument: (1) The integration of racially different students in school is a dynamic process. (2) There is more than one way to teach about race, and the practical meaning given to race in school (cultural orientation) needs to be extended to include economics and class. (3) Race needs to be examined in relation to class and gender in order to better understand school processes. (4) Current school reform ignores students of color.
