Llultilevel petitioning approaches for circuit partitioning has been shomtobepoNerful [14, 45, bthis paper ~'e improve the excellent multilevel partitioning algorithmin [2] by ttilng edge-fiquency information [44] into account during coarsening/uncoarsening, andto break ties. h addition, the uncoarsening phae is guided by an adaptive sdeme whi& adds fletibifity to the number of levels in the uncoarsening phase. We apply our algorithm to 13 ben&mmk circuits and achieve an improvement in rein-cut and average rein-cut values of up to S.6Y0 and 34.6% respectively, compared to the method in Furthermore, our algorithm providw results of very stable qu~ity. This positions our algorithm as current state of the art in multilevel circuit partitioning.
