Biochemical recurrence (BCR) occurs in up to 50% of men within 10 years after radical prostatectomy (RP) 1 , 2 . The most commonly adopted definition of BCR is a prostate-specific antigen (PSA) level >0.2 ng/mL confirmed by a second measurement after an undetectable postoperative value 3 . However, PSA levels exceeding 0.4 ng/mL appear to more accurately predict the development of distant metastases 4 .
