Collision strengths and parameters |Υ (i→ j)| required for the calculation of collisional rate coefficients are calculated for the fine-structure transitions |2D3/2-2D5/2,2P1/2-2P3/2,\,4S3/2-2DJ,\,4S3/2-2PJ\,and\,2DJ-2PJ^| within the ground configuration of [O II]. The complicated resonance structure in the |2D3/2-2D5/2| collision strength above the 2D threshold is taken into account. The collision strengths are obtained from reactance matrices calculated by Pradhan using the close-coupling approximation.
