Does pomegranate improve vascular endothelial function markers?
Pomegranate supplementation may improve certain inflammatory and endothelial function markers like IL-6 and ICAM-1, though evidence for other markers remains limited.

Pomegranate may improve select endothelial markers; extends Level 1 evidence for its vascular effects.
OBJECTIVE: In this systematic review and meta-analysis of clinical trials, we investigated the effect of pomegranate on vascular endothelial function markers. METHODS: ) and 95% CI for the outcomes assessed by at least three studies. The results of the three studies on E-selectin were inconsistent. The FMD and NO were assessed in only one study. CONCLUSIONS: Pomegranate is effective in improving IL-6 and ICAM-1, but not VCAM-1.

Kazemi et al. (2025) conducted a meta-analysis in Vascular endothelial dysfunction. Pomegranate was evaluated on Vascular endothelial function markers (IL-6, ICAM-1, VCAM-1). Pomegranate is effective in improving vascular endothelial function markers IL-6 and ICAM-1, but not VCAM-1.
