Mixed method investigation explores benefits and implementation strategies of Tai Chi and Qigong for children, indicating potential health improvements.
This paper reports on the results of a mixed method investigation into the benefits and programs of Tai Chi and Qigong (TCQ) for children. Based on a framework provided by the existing systematic reviews, we reported on the results of an in-depth systematic review of studies involved TCQ and children, ages 3 to 19, for a variety of health challenges and outcomes as the first phase, the quantitative phase, of this investigation. The second phase of the study involved a qualitative investigation. After gathering information from subjects who were deemed "experts" in the field of TCQ and children, we came to a consensus on the factors that influenced success for those programs. We also identified obstacles and strategies to overcome the obstacles to spreading the benefits of TCQ to children.
