Reply addresses advancements in en bloc resection of bladder tumors, highlighting implications for clinical practice.
From the first description of snare polypectomy of bladder tumour by Kitamura et al in 1980 [1] to the En Bloc Resection of Urothelium Carcinoma project published by Kramer and Herrmann et al. [2] in 2015, and the latest Global En Bloc Resection of Bladder Tumour (ERBT) Registry led by Teoh et al. [3,4], it has taken us 46 yr to reach a point where ERBT has gained sufficient critical mass and momentum, particularly in Asia and Europe [5]. There is also growing evidence that ERBT could enhance not only perioperative and pathological outcomes but also oncological results, especially when combined with intravesical Bacillus Calmette-Guerin therapy [6–8].
