Evidence-based assessment evaluates KMS conformance with ISO 30401, implying improved organizational effectiveness.
A Knowledge Management System (KMS) is a structured and systematic framework for managing and utilising knowledge within an organisation to create value and achieve strategic objectives. A KMS integrates processes, technologies and tools to capture, store, share and apply knowledge, thereby supporting informed decision-making, fostering innovation and improving overall organisational effectiveness. In this paper, we present an evidence-based assessment approach designed to evaluate the conformance of a KMS implementation with the requirements of the ISO 30401 standard for KMSs. We propose a database schema model that reflects the specific requirements of the standard, provides targeted assessment questions to evaluate conformance, and identifies the supporting evidence that is needed to demonstrate conformance with each requirement. The model helps identify gaps that must be addressed for the organisation to achieve ISO 30401 certification.
