Presents vascular variants in penile anatomy, suggesting implications for treatment effectiveness.
Introduction It is accepted that penis corpora cavernosa are irrigated by two cavernous arteries coming from the pudenda internal arteries that, with the dorsal arteries, are the terminal branches. It is also known that in some people there are intracavernous ramifications of the cavernous arteries, but nobody has studied these variations. Objective To present the different vascualr variants present in the penis vascular anatomy. Methods We present our study in patients explored for suspicion of penis pathology, mainly Peyronie´s disease, congenital curvature and erectile dysfunction. We used Penis Dynamic Doppler exam, with prostaglandin stimulation. We have found 5 (I, II, III, IV and V) big groups of patterns some with variants. Results Group I or Type I. Two cavernous arteries without anastomosis. 3 Main Variants: - Group IA or Type IA. The classical anatomy described with two well-developed cavernous arteries.â - Group IB or Type IB. Two arteries bad or developed, very thin without distension in the post stimulus phase. - Group IC or Type IC. One of the two cavernous arteries underdeveloped, with asymmetry of the cavernous arteries. Group II or Type II.- - Group IIA or Type IIA. - Group IIB or Type IIB. Group III or Type III.- - Group IIIA or Type IIIA. . - Group IIIB or Type IIIB. Group IV or Type IV. Group V or Type V.- Group I or Type I.
