Case report highlights a rare complication of retained guidewire in chronic limb-threatening ischemia.
The growing use of peripheral access for endovascular procedures has led to a rise in associated complications. However, complete retention of a guidewire within the arterial system remains exceptionally rare. We present a unique case of a 55-year-old female in whom a retained guidewire, extending from the infrarenal abdominal aorta to the left common femoral artery, was incidentally discovered during evaluation for chronic limb-threatening ischemia of the left lower limb.
