Qualitative study identifies sources of occupational anxiety in food delivery gig workers, suggesting health policy improvements.
In the hospitality industry, this research examined online food delivery services and identified the factors that contribute to occupational anxiety among gig workers in the food delivery service. This qualitative study involved in-depth interviews with 33 gig workers, followed by thematic analysis using NVivo 14 to find codes, subthemes, and themes. Economic anxiety, customer-induced anxiety, precarious work anxiety, navigation anxiety, and social anxiety are the main sources of occupational anxiety for these workers. This highlights the need for policies that promote workers’ health and well-being, in line with Sustainable Development Goal 3.
