Review of mechanized harvesting technologies and equipment enhances straw collection efficiency and addresses regional challenges.
Mechanized harvesting is pivotal for the rapid removal of crop straw and directly affects the efficiency of large‐scale straw collection. It also plays a key role in improving harvesting modes and promoting the development of related equipment. Owing to significant regional differences in natural conditions and agricultural practices, mechanized straw harvesting places diverse structural and functional demands on equipment used for baling, picking up, stacking, and loading/unloading. This study reviews representative mechanized straw harvesting devices used in different regions and summarizes their structural characteristics, working principles, and key technical parameters for straw collection, compression, baling, bundle picking, stacking, and loading/unloading. Furthermore, the study identifies major constraints limiting the development of rapid straw removal mechanization, considering factors such as farming practices and complex terrain. Based on these analyses, the study proposes several recommendations, including standardizing planting patterns, developing region‐specific machines, and specialized equipment, establishing an integrated mechanized straw harvesting technology system, and strengthening collaboration among industry, universities, and research institutes. These findings provide a reference for the development of mechanized straw harvesting equipment and support the efficient utilization of straw resources.
