Ship crankshafts serve in the harsh marine environment and need to withstand extreme loads at high speed. Its surface quality directly determines the reliability and life of the power system. In this paper, Abaqus simulation software is used to carry out the grinding simulation of 34CrNiMo6 material, and the grinding force and temperature field distribution in the grinding process are simulated to explore the variation law of grinding force and grinding temperature under different process parameters. Secondly, the grinding test of the crankshaft journal sample was designed to explore the influence of grinding process parameters on surface roughness and surface hardness after grinding. The results show that the grinding depth is the core parameter affecting the thermal-mechanical characteristics and surface quality. When the grinding depth increases from 0.01 mm to 0.04 mm, the grinding force and temperature increase significantly, resulting in an increase in surface roughness Ra from 0.6 μm to 0.703 μm and a decrease in surface hardness from 565.4 HV to 459 HV. In contrast, the influence of grinding wheel speed is relatively weak. In this study, the performance variation of 34CrNiMo6 material under different grinding parameters was revealed, and the combination of process parameters with the best roughness and hardness was selected to provide a theoretical basis and technical reference for the optimization of the crankshaft grinding process.
