Identifies gamma emission profiles in SN 2017egm, suggesting an alternative magnetar interpretation.
The Fermi-LAT Collaboration (Acero et al., arXiv:2605.29909, A&A submission aa58547-25, 28 May 2026; 119 authors) reports the formal systematic search for GeV emission across a curated 6-event nearby SLSN sample over 16 years of Fermi-LAT observations. SN 2017egm is the only significant detection (peak TS = 33, >5 sigma) with a Bayesian-block window of 112 days (50-162 d post-explosion) and a power-law spectrum of index Gamma = 2.17 +/- 0.23. The collaboration rules out the circumstellar-medium (CSM) scenario on timing grounds and on the observed L_gamma/L_opt ~ 1 ratio (CSM expectations < 10^-2), and favours a magnetar wind-nebula interpretation requiring either low nebular magnetization or faster-than-dipole spin-down. We respond from within the One-Octonion Brane-Bulk framework, where Paper CCLVII issued two channels for an alternative reading: (i) forced electron capture at the H+/H- shock front, with f_bulk = 3.6917% driving nuclear gamma from n-poor stable parents; and (ii) transitional Euclidean to infundibular geometry with energy-dependent transit fraction f_bulk(E) = 1 - sinc^2(E/2m_pi) giving near-full transit at GeV energies and effectively zero at optical. The Acero+ Table A.2 SED shows the lowest energy bin (190 MeV) is not detected (TS = 1.2) while the next bin (720 MeV) is the brightest (TS = 18.2). The framework prediction CCLVII-P4 (spectral feature at 270 MeV, the first sinc^2 zero) is consistent with this onset-of-detection structure: bin-by-bin evaluation gives f_bulk(190 MeV) = 0.868, f_bulk(270 MeV) = 1.0000 (full transit), f_bulk(720 MeV) = 0.989. The Acero+ Bayesian-block window 50-162 d post-SN matches the CCLVII forced-EC shock-front processing window to within 10% on both edges, supporting CCLVII-P5 (gamma/optical timing offset from the CSM-interaction baseline). The total integrated gamma energy in the window is 1.1e50 erg, larger than CCLVII's channel-(i) forced-EC central prediction (1.2e49 erg) by a factor of ~9.3x -- pointing to a channel-(ii) geometric amplification of A_(ii) ~ 9.3, which sits within CCLVII's original 10-100x honest-scope range and is now empirically anchored. Three forward predictions: CCLXX-P1 finer-binned Fermi-LAT spectral analysis at 100-500 MeV (predicts step-like TS rise centred at 270 MeV); CCLXX-P2 CTAO follow-up of a SN 2017egm analogue at < 140 Mpc (framework spectral turnover near 100 GeV distinguishes from magnetar); CCLXX-P3 population test on the 5 non-detection SLSNe in the Acero+ sample correlated with M(56Ni) reservoir below an f_bulk-saturation threshold ~0.5-1.0 M_sun. The framework is not falsified by Acero+. The magnetar interpretation requires ad hoc nebular-magnetization tuning of comparable strength to CCLVII's honest-scope admissions; no clean winner.
